Last week, Benny Bloss had a practice collision that will keep him out of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship in 2022. Before the incident, the Missouri native had joined with Team Tedder/Monster Energy/Lucas Oil/KTM Racing and was prepared for his fourth 450 SX season.
He announced on Instagram that he had surgery on his ankle.
He proclaimed that he didn’t want to make a fuss about what happened but he had the crash on Tuesday and was going to miss the start of the sx season. Thankfully, the extreme sport doer was able to get his ankle fixed on the day before. He is now in the process of recovery. When asked, he was not sure about how long it must take to be out but he was doing anything he could to be back as soon as possible. He later thanked all fans who supported him and his team who backed him up the entire time.
Bloss has spent his whole racing career with the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS team, which he originally joined as a fill-in rider. In 2017, 2018, and 2019 he competed with the team (missing supercross due to injury) before going solo in 2020 on a Yamaha YZ450F.
Due to an injury to Justin Bogle, he was finally welcomed back to the KTM-backed squad for the remainder of the supercross season, commencing with the Daytona Supercross. COVID-19 postponed the championship indefinitely until it resumed in Salt Lake City, Utah, after he finished 12th in the main event. Bloss won his first 450SX heat race in the Salt Lake City 5 Supercross, but he was left without a berth when Bogle returned for the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. He created his own program once more, this time on a Husqvarna FC 450.
Bloss struck a deal with SmarTop/Bullfrog Spas/MotoConcepts Honda for supercross in 2021 in October 2020. On a Honda CRF450R, he raced in 12 450SX main races. Bloss’ best finish in the 450SX standings came in 2018, when he finished 15th with 140 points and was named the 450SX Rookie of the Year.
As a result of the incident, he will now miss the start of the new season. Kaeden Amerine, a supercross rookie, will participate on a KTM 250 SX-F for Team Tedder/Monster Energy/Lucas Oil/KTM Racing in the 250SX class.
Bloss appeared in 12 features in 2021, finishing 13th on two occasions. In the season finale in Salt Lake City, one of these occurred.
Despite only scoring one top-10 finish in 2020, Bloss had his most consistent season ever, finishing 10th to 14th in his previous nine outings, the majority of which were also held in Salt Lake City.
Bloss had his most fruitful Supercross season in 2018, finishing in 15th position in the standings with three top-10s and four 11th-place finishes. Bloss was named the 450 SX Rookie of the Year in 2018.
Bloss also made the top ten in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series standings in 2018, finishing seventh. In 2016, he finished sixth in the rankings.
Team Tedder had already stated that Kaeden Amerine will compete in the 250 SX class.
